Resistance Boxes

Resistance Boxes

Resistance Boxes are precision electrical devices used to introduce a known resistance into a circuit. They are commonly used in laboratories, educational institutions, and calibration settings to test, measure, or adjust electrical equipment.

Resistance Boxes are essential electrical components used in various industrial applications to control current, simulate load, test electrical circuits, and protect equipment. They consist of resistors enclosed in a durable casing, often with adjustable terminals or switches to vary resistance.

"ORTON" make resistance boxes are designed to meet requirements of both A.C. & D.C. application. For E.O.T. Cranes, Winches, Rubber Mills, Steel Mills, Cement Mills, Power Plants, Conveyors, Coke Oven, Blowers etc.,

Resistance boxes can be of following types :

  • Stainless Steel Grid Resistors : These resistors consists of stainless steel wire or strip in form of grids
  • Punched Steel Grid Resistors : These resistors consists of grid punched from stainless steel / fechral sheet and are available in wide range from 7 amps to 1500 amps continuous rating.

Advantages of Resistance Boxes :

Resistance boxes are essential components in electrical and electronic systems, especially for controlling current, testing circuits, and simulating loads. Here are the key advantages:

  • Precise Control of Resistance : Resistance boxes allow for accurate adjustment of resistance values in a circuit. Ideal for laboratory testing and calibration work.
  • Versatility : Useful in various applications: testing, measurement, and educational demonstrations. Can simulate different load conditions in electrical circuits.
  • Ease of Use : Simple dial or switch-based interface for selecting desired resistance. No need for manual wiring or changing resistors.
  • Durability : Built with high-quality resistors and insulation materials for long life. Designed to withstand repeated usage in harsh industrial or lab environments.
  • Enhanced Safety : Offers safe resistance variation without the need to physically handle live wires or hot resistors. Often enclosed in protective, insulated casings.
  • Time Saving : Quick setup and easy value selection help reduce time spent in testing or calibration procedures.
  • Cost Efficiency : Eliminates the need for multiple individual resistors. Reduces inventory and maintenance costs.
  • Educational Utility : Commonly used in schools and technical training for practical understanding of Ohm’s Law and circuit behavior.
